Each *month, I aim to read and review books that are either self-published or by less well known authors. All these summer picks are from authors I’ve had the pleasure of meeting in person, including a member of my online writing community, Keyboard to Kindle.

Read:

Deadly Truths by Paul Gitsham. (Straw Hat Crime)

Paul has written more than a dozen crime fiction books, most of them as part of his DCI Warren Jones Series. This is his first featuring young detectives, Foxe and Kennard, and is based in Coventry, a place close to my heart. This man can write and I was gripped from the start as the two outsiders battle corruption and deceit, reaching to the very top of the force. My only question is whether I now read his previous novels or wait for the second in this new series, Home Truths, due in November this year. Perhaps the answer is both.

Reading:

The Earl’s Dangerous Secret by Ellie Henshaw. (Historical Romance)

“A tortured Earl in search of a traitor. A debutante protecting her family. A love that could destroy them both.”

Ellie is a member of Keyboard to Kindle and I will be selling her book, alongside mine, at the Book Extravaganza in Leamington Spa, on August 1^st & 2^nd.

TBR:

Love in the Time of Covid by Pauline Crame

“A moving and sharply observed portrait of a nation in crisis.”

I chose this book on the basis of having enjoyed Pauline’s previous novel, Song In The Key of Madeleine.
